Today we drove from Independence MO to Prairie Flower Campground near Ankeny IA were we live. Not a bad drive today traveling just 206 miles in 3 hrs 40 minutes with one potty break stop in Missouri. We will be here for a week and will unload, restock, repair, etc as needed before we launch out on Phase II of our 2022 travels. Stopping home in the middle of the trip is not normal for us but just how it worked out this year.
Our great friends and Air Force comrades Bob and Joyce Childre and their eight year old granddaughter Sidney were here at Prairie Flower to greet us when we rolled in. Well, I will tell you Liberty has met a new best friend with Sidney! They hit it right off and Liberty will surely miss her new friend Sidney when they depart on Wednesday and head north to Forest City to get their Winnebago repaired. In the mean time Liberty is having the time of her life!
Bob and Joyce were with us up in Maine when we were active duty Air Force. Bob worked in the same shop that I did, both radio technicians. I came back to Iowa and Bob transferred to the Army but we have stayed in touch all these years and especially now that we both own campers our paths cross, but not frequently enough! We are so glad we were able to camp with them here and get caught up on what each of us have been doing.
We have a list a mile long to get done while we are "home". We are going to live in our RV rather than trying to move back into our "sticks and bricks" for a week. It is just a lot simpler to do that. Doreen will go home and do laundry, etc.
With that I am going to go on hiatus from the blog for a few days since we won't be traveling or touring. We will pick this back up when it is appropriate but for sure as we leave here a week from now and head towards Dubuque IA, our next stop. If there is something significant that is worth posting between now and then we will.. In the mean time, thanks for tagging along on our journey!
