17 Jul 2022 - RV Maintenance, Grandson Baseball and Visit from Greg and Jennifer Cullen

 17 Jul

Other than fueling the truck in preparation for our departure tomorrow, we did not stray far from the campground today.  I did some routine maintenance on the coach including cleaning and lubricating the slideout seals.  In doing so I discovered some splits in the rubber, so I contacted Alliance Customer Service with our VIN and started the ball rolling on getting replacements.  This is not critical, but they need to be replaced sometime in the near future.

Through the marvels of modern technology we were able to watch two games of our grandson Daniel's state baseball tournament.

"D" pitched six inning facing 20 batters, striking out 13 and only allowing 3 hits and one walk! For an 11 year old that is really amazing!  So his team is in the top 4 of the State tournament and plays again at 1000 hrs tomorrow (Monday). We are so proud of him!

We will be here and will definitely be  watching the game before departing for Racine, our next stop!  I am a bit biased, but this young man and his brother Calvin, both, are very talented baseball players - just like their dad Dan, aka "Danno".

Danno and his "perfect game"

Danno and his sister Jennifer who played college softball in Nebraska

Of course their grandfather "Fast Eddie" and great grandfather "Lefty" smoked a few unsuspecting batters in their time!

This afternoon our friends and military comrades from Wisconsin, Greg and Jennifer Cullen stopped by the campground for a visit.  Greg and Jennifer Cullen both retired from the Wisconsin Air National Guard after many years of service.  Greg was the Wisconsin State Command Chief when I was the Iowa State Command Chief!  It was really an honor to serve along side Greg on the Enlisted Field Advisory Council.  We had a lot of fun and worked hard to make things better for our Airmen.

Tomorrow we will watch D's game, pull chocks after noon and make our way to Racine WI and the Cliffside Campground.
