Rain off in the distance this morning.
We drove back to Minot AFB to get Doreen's "Why Not Minot" t-shirt (above) from Military Clothing Sales and look for a ceramic Minot AFB coffee mug for a friend. We also stopped back at the FamCamp and took some measurements for another friend.
The FamCamp
The sites are really small.
Lots of Air Force coffee mugs but none with Minot on them
On the way back into town we stopped at Bray's Saddlery. Established in 1927 as a shoe repair business, Brays is a family owned and operated business that has grown into a full service western store with a great selection of boots, hats, jewelry, saddlery, tack, rodeo equipment, western apparel, leather crafts, with a full service repair department. It was interesting that five years ago today a memory popped up on Facebook that we visited Kings Saddlery in Sheridan WY and I bought my lasso rope!! Bray's Saddlery sells Kings products. We did not realize they were as big as they are. I've never really been much of a "westerner", but I do have an affection for the awesome leatherworks such as saddles, boots, holsters, etc. The craftsmanship is unbelievable!
Boots for as far as you can see!! I was tempted to pull the trigger!
Doreen and her cowbells! They used to be a prominent thing at Fort Des Moines Little League games back in the day. The opposing teams said they were annoying!
Beautifully hand-crafted leather saddles with hefty price tags
Our only purchase at Bray's was a turquoise bracelet that Doreen bought, although I could have spent a lot of money there.
Back at the campground we took care of our usual pre-departure tasks such as laundry, defrosting the RV fridge (a downside of the RV-type refrigerators), flushing sewer tanks, stowing hoses etc.
Tonight we had a relaxing dinner outside while watching the Chicago Cubs play the Washington Nationals in Washington DC. Tomorrow we head south and west about 210 miles to Medora ND for stop# 26 for the next five nights. While we are there we will reconnect with Command CMSgt (ret) Joe Thornell and his wife Kerry, Air National Guard friends that live in South Dakota. They will be camping at the Medora Campground with us. While there we look forward to seeing the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. We also have reservations at the "pitchfork steak fondue" western cookout! Everyone says it is amazing!
Next report from Medora ND! Thanks for tagging along!
