21 Aug 2022 - One Nighter at Malta MT

 21 Aug

Long day but arrived at Malta MT.  We said our goodbyes to the Thornell's this morning at 0842 hrs and departed Medora ND. We sure had a great time at Medora with them,  It was so good to see them and catch up with what everyone has been up to!  Joe and Kerry departed just ahead of us and stopped and took a picture of us coming out of the park!

We hopped on I-94 and headed westbound.  We enjoyed driving through the North Dakota Badlands and soon we were into Montana.

The scenery continued to be nice but pretty baron.

We needed to get back up on US 2, so we diverted on some state roads and stopped at Circle MT for a pitstop.  Along the way we were looking, but we never did see "the deer and the Antilope play" LOL!

At Wolf Point there was an Albertson's Grocery Store so Doreen went in and replenished supplies while I stood armed guard at the RV with the pooch...  A shady place for sure.  We then got back on US 2 westbound towards Malta MT.  Normally we shoot for about 200 miles per travel day but today was 285 miles and 6 hrs 18 minutes travel time, with two stops

We rolled into Malta MT at 1500 hrs, 6 hrs and 18 minutes later and 285 miles for today.  My suspicions about our campground there were confirmed.  They would not accept reservations and when we arrived they had some technical issues going on and were without water...  They did refer us across the road to another campground and that place we just fine.  In fact they had full hookup pull-through sites and an indoor pool.   We got set up, cleaned the massive layer of bugs off the front cap of the RV and then headed back out with the truck to refuel since we are only here for one night.

Just fine for a one-nighter

Tomorrow we will roll out of here fairly early since tomorrows travels will be a few miles longer than today at 289 miles.  I regret not following our own rules, one of which is always staying at least two nights anywhere we stop.  There is a dinosaur museum and some other things to see but we won't be able to since we are only here one night.  Shame on me!  But we are really looking forward to getting to Glacier National Park, our next stop.

Next report from there!
