This morning at 0928 hrs we departed Casper WY area and headed east towards Nebraska. It was overcast this morning and we had intermittent rain as we traveled.
Clouds hanging low over Casper
The sunflowers are drooping their heads this time of year! Harvest drawing near!
We stopped twice in route. Once was at the exit to I-25 when we stopped at the rest area in Orin. From there we were on two-lane roads until we arrived in Alliance. The second stop was in Crawford before we turned south on Hwy 71. We skirted storms on the way today but just had a little sprinkles until after we arrived in Alliance.
We rolled into Alliance about 1345 hrs and stopped for a photo op in front of the Alliance NE water tower not far from our campground. With our fifth wheel manufacturer being "Alliance" it just seemed like the appropriate thing to do!
We have quite a few things to see here starting with their annual Dobby's Frontier Town Festival THIS WEEKEND!! They also have some museums, a carhenge, etc. We are here for five nights and look forward to spending some time in Alliance Nebraska!
As long as we were seeking photo op's, we discovered another Alliance NE water tower in town so we headed there for a picture or two.
From there we headed to our campground and arrived at 1415 hrs after traveling 230 miles. It is a small "mom and pop" campground right here in Alliance. I spoke with the owner yesterday just to firm up site availability and he said no problem there. They have a dozen or so sites, all full hook-up back-in's and plenty of green grass for Liberty! We picked out our site and got set-up quickly before the rain started. The sites are a little close, but tolerable.
Nice having a bit of shade but still being able to "see" the satellite. Cubs game was over by the time we arrived and got set up, but they play Saturday and Sunday with the Rockies and then three days at the Marlins. Looks like Iowa may be on the Big 10 Network and Iowa State is on ESPN+
