13 Jun 2022 - Road trip to Bull Shoals and Mountain Home

 13 Jun

Today we ventured into the town of Bull Shoals to get some items from the hardware store and pick up a few groceries.  To get from the campground to the town you drive over the dam, with Bull Shoals lake to the right, and the White River to the left.  That is were we will fish Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Bull Shoals Dam

Well, times are tough in Bull Shoals and the hardware store is closed both Sunday and Monday due to no customers.  No worries.  We continued down the road just to see the sights and many stores have shuttered doors or are for sale.  Times are indeed tough here.  We drove around and found the Lighthouse Point Resort where we stayed back in our scuba diving days.

The resort has great access to the boat dock
where we loaded our scuba gear and headed out onto the lake.

From here we stopped at the local grocery store to pick up a few items.  They had a pretty good selection and the prices were as expected...

Back at the campground I grilled up some of the meat we bought for future meals, we had some lunch and then took Liberty for a walk before it got beastly hot.

Multi-layered haze over the lake

Beautiful scenery

Sunlight shining through the haze

Campers fishing from the landing and a young girl skipping stones

With the hardware store closed, I needed to do something about the less-than-adequate TV mount I got from Walmart, so we headed for Mountain Home AR to get fuel and do something about the mount.  We found Lowes and got what we needed and fuels at a Caseys General Store on the way back.  I am getting an "air box error" on the truck, not a check engine light but just a message on the EVIC display, so I stopped at O'Reileys for a new air filter as recommended on the Internet.  That did not solve the issue so will be seeking out a dealer possibly at our next stop - Tulsa, OK.
The afternoon sun warming up the big ol' brown truck!

Back at the campground I got the new TV bracket installed and it should work fine.  We headed out on another walk and discovered another Alliance 310RL like ours.  Doreen will see if the owners are around tomorrow when I am fishing.

Will report the results of my first day fishing tomorrow!  We also firmed up plans to have dinner with Chuck and Sherri Leonard tomorrow night at a Brick Over Pizza restaurant in Mountain Home!
