Spent the early morning giving the coach a bath. The front cap of these things gets splattered with bugs and you have to keep up with that or the sun can really bake them on. After scrubbing the front cap Doreen and I tag-teamed the rest of the coach and gave it a complete bath. It really needed it.
Early afternoon we met John Kimball and his friend Jane for lunch at the Dempsey's Burger Pub. It's kind of a quaint place and the food was great. We talked and laughed and once in a while we even ate a bit! John deployed to Afghanistan in the same type of position that I deployed to Iraq, so we talked about our deployments and of course we had common acquaintances, but that is how it goes in the military. It is truly a small world. That is what we have found when we stay in military campgrounds - FamCamps. As soon as we arrive and get set-up in the FamCamp I put up my flagpole which includes an Air Force flag. We usually get several people on their morning or evening walks that stop by and want to know where we served, etc. It never fails we usually know someone in common or have deployed to the same locations.
As we discussed with John today, we obviously did not plan enough time here. Poor planning on my part. There is a lot to see in this area, so we will for sure be back. Hopefully one of our other Communications Flight buddies, Russ Brotsky and his bride Roxie, will be here next time we come through. They are busy travelers also and are hard to catch up with!!
Tomorrow, already, we pull chocks and drive to the Campus RV Park in Independence MO where we will be until the Fourth of July. We have some friends and an NUHS classmate to see there plus we have tickets for a Royals baseball game!
