We departed Nashville a bit earlier than planned, at 0818 hrs this morning and headed down I-40 towards Memphis. The trip was fairly uneventful. There was a bit of construction in places along the way. Glad we were not headed eastbound towards Nashville as there was a terrible multi-vehicle crash that has traffic backed up for many miles.
As we traveled around the north side of Memphis where I-40 routes, we passed a couple icons, the St. Jude's Children's Hospital along with the Danny Thomas Research Center, and the pyramid-shaped Bass Pro Shop.
As we continued west we crossed the mighty Mississippi River and entered West Memphis, Arkansas.
Not long after crossing the Mississippi, at 1300 hrs we arrived at Tom Sawyer 's RV Park after traveling 241 miles. That was with just one potty break and no fuel stops.
Tom Sawyer's is located right on the shore of the Mississippi River, and I reserved an end spot so we have unrestricted visibility! Especially with the outstanding view from inside our 310RL. The windows provide a great view. Watching the barges and tugs pass by is mesmerizing!
Tomorrow we will reconnect with Jason Hunt and his wife Kim for dinner and a tour of the USDA facility where he works.
