7 Jun 2022 - Last Day at Nashville NSTR

 7 Jun

Nothing cosmic here today and few pictures.  No touring and no bars.  Doreen did some laundry.  I flushed the tanks and stowed the hoses.  Sounds like Ground Hog's Day, huh??  Yep!  We did run after a few groceries since where we are camping at the next stop there does not look to be a lot of stores in the neighborhood.  I topped off the fuel tank on the big ol' brown truck in preparation for our journey tomorrow morning to West Memphis AR.

2018 photo - Jason and Kim Hunt, Doreen and Ed

Speaking of Memphis, we made connections with Jason Hunt, an Air Guard comrade who served with us for many years in Des Moines and now lives in Arlington TN.  We had dinner with Jason and his wife Kim in 2018 at Gus's World Famous (Hot) Fried Chicken in Memphis.  We have made plans to get a tour of his USDA facility and go out to eat with him and his wife Kim at Sling Shot Charlie's!  The menu looks delicious <he says as he reads about fried chicken livers>  Yummy!!!

I spent some time on the phone with Hewlett Packard and Western Digital looking for a new hard disk for my laptop.  HP says 1TB max, but WD says they can provide a 2TB solid state drive! Hopefully I can burn an image and do a swap fairly easily.  Sounds like a great winter project.

Had some rain move through this afternoon but we are fairly secluded here surrounded by trees so other than the precip it was calm.  This evening we are tuned into Marquee Network watching our Chicago Cubs at Camden Yards playing the Orioles.  It's even more interesting since we visited that stadium last summer when we were camping at Ft Meade MD.  We like to watch our Cubs and the roof-mounted satellite makes that very do-able.  I have an AM21 "off-the-air" interface box plugged into the back of my Directv Genie, so I receive and superimpose local channels right on our Directv guide.  That also gives us the ability to record them, which is nice.

I forgot to mention last night that yesterday was my big sister Karen's birthday so we gave her a call last night and talked for quite a while.  Her birthday is on D-Day so an easy one to remember.  She lives in Mercedes TX down south near Brownsville so we don't get together very often but we made it down there in 2019 for their 50th wedding anniversary.  Unfortunately Karen's husband Jim passed away after a short illness last fall.   We hope to connect up with here near West Yellowstone this summer during our trip out west.

So tomorrow we will launch out of here around 0830 hrs and head down I-40 towards Memphis.  Nashville, it's been great but it is time to head on down the road!  A rolling stone gathers no moss!
