We had a nice drive north up I-35 through Oklahoma and Kansas this morning. We departed Oklahoma City this morning at 1000 hrs and traveled 179 miles across Oklahoma and to Wichita KS. There is not a whole lot to see but prairie and oil wells.
We stopped once for a potty break and it so happens they had a DQ, so we indulged a bit with a couple small DQ Blizzards for the palate! Soon we were crossing the OK/KS state line and well on our way to our next destination!
With a little navigation through the southern part of Wichita, we arrived at McConnell Air Force Base, stop #14 on our 2022 adventure, arriving 3 hrs 35 minutes later
We got site #1 on the end which is really nice. The FamCamp has a dozen or so sites that border a nice pond
We unloaded off the truck and attempted to set up, but got a spray bath from the hydrant which had a major crack in it. We contacted the Outdoor Rec office and they dispatched someone down to install a wye connector on the adjacent site. We travel with about 250 ft of drinking water hose for just such contingencies!
John came out to the campground and we gave him a tour of our Alliance coach, since it is a different one than the last time we were together, We talked about his upcoming trip to Yellowstone National Park and made plans to have lunch tomorrow.
This evening we walked Liberty around the pond and enjoyed the views and the area. I may have to get my fishing pole out tomorrow and give it a go!!
Ideas for our berm at home!!
