14 May 2022 - Volleyball in Shipshewana IN

 14 May

This morning we were invited over to Kevin and Nelly Wolbeck's coach for "Nelly Muffins", a.k.a six-week bran muffins.  When I get a good copy of the recipe I will post it, but the pre-made bran-based batter was scooped into a bowl and then you could pick from several different ingredients to add.  Microwave for a couple minutes, and they were done!  Delicious!

After breakfast we headed for Shipshewana IN to watch out grand daughter Lindsey play volleyball.  Since it was Saturday morning there were many Amish heading into town to shop and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Today's volleyball tournament is at the Michiana Event Center, but at the same facility is some sort of rodeo event with a large Amish presence.

We were able to watch two matches with two games per match before heading back to the campground.  It was great seeing our daughter Jennifer and her husband James along with their daughter Lindsey.  There son Lucas could not make it today but we have plans to meet them all for dinner Monday night somewhere between here and Battle Creek MI where they live.

So here are some volleyball pictures from today.  There were at least 16 courts going on in this building (she was playing on #16).  The sound level was incredible with the team spirit, the ref's whistles, and the spectator enthusiasm! You had to pay attention as there were volleyballs flying everywhere!
Colorful courts!

After they were done we headed for the parking lot and exchanged items we each had brought.  Lindsey is in seventh grade and is now taller than Doreen!

It was great to see them and to see Lindsey play.  We will attend again tomorrow, this time in Sturgis MI.

So we headed back to the campground, had a later lunch, walked little Miss Liberty, and then tuned into an App called Game Changer to sort of watch our grand sons little league baseball games.  Daniel Jr who is 11 years old played in our old home town of Norwalk IA.  Our son Dan was there with him as he is one of the team coaches.  Our other grandson, Calvin who is 9 was playing in Grinnell IA and was there with his mom Ashley!  Busy times with everything going on. So we were switching between games as we could.  The live video feed at Calvin's game was not working, so we switched back to Daniel's game just in time to hear him rip a game-winning home run over the fence - his FIRST!  It was awesome!

We finished out the day with another walk around the campground with Liberty then relaxing and catching up with our neighbors and great friends Bob and Jill Junco from Florida.  They also own an Alliance coach and are camping right next to us here.

Tomorrow we head to Sturgis MI for some more volleyball!  So glad we are able to catch some games while we are here and before the Rally!
