Today I made a quick trip to Lowes but other than that we stayed here and worked on projects around the RV. Doreen did a load of laundry before we move to the next campground this weekend. I flushed our tanks, lubricated the awning struts, cleaned the blinds over the stove window, and checked our propane levels. I also checked out water filters and it is obvious we will need to change our sediment and carbon filter elements before we move. The iron-rich water here is taking it's toll.
Pre-rally registration included reporting up to three problems with your coach for Alliance to work on while you are here. I had to struggle to figure out three things to report, but I did. Today Alliance technicians showed up and all three issues were resolved. Their goal is to knock out as many for the folks like us that arrived early to free up their technicians for next week in Goshen when the Rally starts. So we are done!
The biggest project was building the mount for my WeatherFlow Tempest weather system. The Tempest is the newest technology for monitoring and measuring weather. It boasts "a revolutionary design with no moving parts, nearly zero maintenance, instant online data, a free personal webpage, and a rich API powering a growing list of third-party applications" I wanted a reliable weather station for our RV primarily to measure wind speed so we could stow our satellite when wind exceeds 30 mph. I needed a device that would withstand the regular put up/tear down and transportation, and the traditional weather systems with the delicate spinning anemometer and wind vein just would not hold up. Enter the Tempest! With no moving parts it should be a reliable device for the RV. The cutting edge AI technology using sonic sensors to measure wind speed and direction, and haptic sensors to measure rainfall is pretty incredible.
So, I ordered a flag pole to mount it on from the same company as our main flag pole, Flag Pole Buddy. To adapt the Tempest to the Flag Pole Buddy I needed to build an adapter. Lowes had what I needed. Campground picnic tables make good work benches and using the tools we had on hand we were able to create the adapter.More of our friends rolled into the campground today. Dr George Walker and his wife Donna arrived travelling all the way from Cape Canaveral FL We had dinner with them when we camped at Cape Canaveral last summer. Ralph & Lindy from Georgia arrived. Mike and Donna from South Carolina rolled in and many more. It is so fun to reconnect with great folks we have not seen since last year and it is fun to meet so many new people.
We don't have huge plans for the rest of the week, but we will continue to post what we do. .
