Wow, what a great day here in northern Iowa. We had bright, beautiful sunshine the whole day and moderately warm temps! Still sweatshirt weather but no coats and no stocking hats today, or in the coming days! So we spent pretty much the whole day relaxing outside, taking long walks and just enjoying the weather! We did not venture into town at all today, just enjoyed the campground!
Friday here so the campers were rolling in most of the day. The Department of Natural Resources officers were busy patrolling the park. Staff continued to roll out more new picnic tables. Dumpsters were placed. The campground was just a buzz!
Liberty "drove the ship" and wanted to head into the woods, so away we went! Later I picked four wood ticks off of my legs but we did not find any on her. I kept an eye out for a morel mushroom but this far north I think we are probably a week or two early for them.
For the second day we had lunch outside. It is such a welcome relief from the cold, rainy weather we've had. There is more rain coming, but the temps appear to be on the rise and are to hit 80's next week. This time of year that won't last, but it will feel good for a change!
We took a couple walks by the lake which was very calm, and watched the workers set boat lifts back in the water. Every year in the fall they have to remove them as the ice will destroy them and the docks. Then in the spring they put them back in. Job security I guess!
It was an awesome day! The finale was another walk along the beach and capturing the sunset from Clear Lake State Park. So peaceful.
Tomorrow our son Dan graduates from Waldorf University with his Master's degree and his whole family will be here of course. We will drive up for that and then they plan to come back through Clear Lake and we will go out to eat with them before they head back to Ankeny.
