4 May 2022 - Laundry, Shopping, and Sunshine!

 4 May

Beautiful day at Clear Lake!  We headed into town to do some laundry and restock the fresh fruits and veggies this morning.  No rain today.  The sun struggled this morning to make an appearance but the clouds ruled the skies.  I walked down the street to the Ace hardware and picked up a couple things while Doreen finished up the laundry.  Then a quick stop at the local Fareway grocery store before heading back to the campground.

Shortly after noon our high school classmate Mike O'Brien, aka "OB", stopped out to say howdy and deliver an Amazon package I had sent to his residence.  It was great to see Mike and we spend the next couple hours getting caught up on each family's events, laughing and reminiscing!  In 2020 when we were up here and Doreen caught COVID, I also got it a few days later and Mike did as well.  He is still suffering some after effects of it.  Mike played professional basketball in Australia after high school and that is where he met his wife Narelle.  Just a few days ago she returned from a visit there, and we plan to have dinner with them tomorrow night, so it will be great to hear about her trip.

Mike and I almost 50 years later!

After Mike left we went outside to enjoy the sunshine that had emerged.  We grilled some bacon-wrapped tenderloin steaks for dinner and some pork chops for lunch tomorrow, and then headed down to the lake with Liberty.  The lake was very calm and there were a few boats cruising about.  The season is just emerging so they have not even put the buoys up to delineate the swimming area yet.  Doreen spent so many summers here in her childhood.  Memories!

Doreen hugging a big ol' oak tree just up from the beach - how big they have grown!

After our walk we headed back to the camper and settled in to watch Survivor and the Cubs vs the White Sox.  We may head downtown tomorrow so Doreen can do some shopping and then tomorrow night Cinco de Mayo margarita's followed by dinner at GeJo's by the Lake with Mike and Narelle.  Fun times!

Finally, a little sunset picture from the campground. Life is Good!
